Doorstep Library celebrates World Book Day

22nd February 2022

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of the wonderful World Book Day and instead of just one day we now have a whole week to celebrate all things books!  The week will launch on  Monday 28th February and will finish on Friday 4th March.

World Book Day aims to celebrate books and authors from across the world. Their mission is to encourage children and young people to read for pleasure, something Doorstep Library does all year round!  As one of World Book Day’s charity partners, we are keen to raise awareness of the week and have lots of way you can get involved.

Below we highlight a list of just some of the resources available on the World Book Day website, lots of ideas to help you to get even the most reluctant readers enjoying books in no time!

Share A Story Corner

Take ten minutes to share stories with your little ones. Their Share A Story Corner videos have familiar characters and easy to follow stories, and tips for reading and enjoying activities together. Look at the pictures together, guess what the characters are up to and ask children what they think will happen next. They will soon be asking to read together again and again!

Give a gift that lasts a lifetime

Reading for enjoyment has more of an impact on a child’s future success than any other factor, including their family’s economic status.
