Caroline spent over a decade working with secondary schools across Hackney and Tower Hamlets as an education consultant. During this time, she saw first-hand how vital access to learning is for young people, and how barriers such as literacy difficulties can persist throughout a child’s education if left unaddressed. She worked across multiple vocational pathways and is deeply passionate about the positive impact that corporates, SMEs, and individuals can have on a child’s educational journey.
Her commitment to literacy is also personal. Caroline’s eldest son was learning to read in Reception when Covid hit, and he struggled significantly. His confidence, and curiosity, began to fade. Without timely intervention, Caroline believes he may have disengaged from learning altogether at just five years old. For her, reading, and a love of reading, is a gateway to the future, imagination, and fun.
As a child, Caroline’s favourite book was The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis; the strange worlds, unforgettable characters, and sense of adventure captured her imagination (and every lion since has been a disappointment…!). She later loved Philip Pullman’s Northern Lights trilogy. Today, reading with her own children, she’s happily addicted to Cressida Cowell’s How to Train Your Dragon series, proof that some stories are just as magical for grown-ups. And, for the record, Camicazi is one of the best characters ever written.
